Every restart of a new year is topped off with resolutions (that one may or may not uphold).
Gyms are filled to the brim the first month or so of the new year. Workspaces and calendars are organized and ready to go for a couple of weeks. The diet lasts for maybe a week, and the house is still a mess.
There is only so much motivation to stand by and shift one’s entire lifestyle to fulfill their resolutions. As much as we don’t like to admit it, resolutions are hard to maintain.
However, there is a way to set the ground for one of the most common resolutions. A healthier lifestyle is mostly on everyone’s list, including your own.
Everyone can afford to live a little better to maximize their health and youth, whether physically or mentally. From shedding a few pounds–to feel better about one’s self–to simply thinking happier thoughts throughout the day, making these simple changes can make a substantial difference in the long run.
Consider these tips for a more fruitful lifestyle, starting with the home:
- Open up the windows and smell the fresh air. Depending on where one lives, the next couple of months may bring excellent weather. Sunny, chilly days can provide a feeling of warmth that one may be missing out on with their windows closed. Consider opening up those windows and blinds for not only a gentle breeze and fresh air but even a forgotten view. Let the sun shine and organically illuminate your room. Everyone needs more vitamin D.
- Suppress the mess. A steady spiral towards a stressful environment can begin by allowing the spiral to occur in the first place. Attempt to upkeep your household including the essential spaces such as your room, kitchen, and living room to minimize the hassle of an even bigger, accumulated disarray down the road. One way to encourage the doing of household duties and reduce the displeasure of it all is to invest in a phenomenal kitchen faucet and complementing sink. For bigger homes with bigger messes, fixtures such as the vintage farmhouse sink and the professional pull-down kitchen faucet encourage the ease of the chore by providing ergonomic features such as ADA compliance, dual-spray action, and sufficient depth and length.
- Go green. Plant life is an excellent component to incorporate into the home to remind guests of the great outdoors and inspire an active lifestyle. Houseplants, flowers, fruits, and edible plants can all give the home new life while also doubling with function. Add the pop of color of fruit while also showcasing a hearty snack, exhibit the grace of green of fresh basil and mint plants that also double as handy herbs for home cooking.
- Turn off the electronics. Instead of routinely reaching for a cellphone, remote, laptop, or game controller, opt for the book you’ve wanted to read, prep the meal you’ve been meaning to prep, do some work, tidy up a bit, or go outside. Not only does this lessen the influence of the toxicity of media, but it also helps save the planet to an extent. Bring peace of mind to you and Mother Nature by trying going off the grid, even if it’s for only a little while!
Let’s be honest: resolutions are hard to maintain. But with these helpful tips, you can start promoting a healthy lifestyle to finally better yourself in 2019, starting within your home.
