Brass faucets, a brilliantly white clawfoot tub and a colorful backsplash are all things that you want to show off in your bathroom design. Not all of the items in this often-used space, however, are as attractive as the above stated pieces. For the items that you’re not as proud of, we have a few ideas to help cover them up:
Exposed pipes
If you have pipes that run up the walls of your bathroom or underneath your pedestal sink, cover up the eyesore with a simple coat of paint. If you’re aiming for a subdued, rustic-style bathroom, help the pipes blend into the walls by painting them the same color. But if you’re after a more vibrant, modern room, paint your pipes in a bold hue, like fire truck red or lime green. Just make sure that the color you choose coordinates with the existing design scheme.
If the pipes are underneath your sink, try adding a skirt to hide them. Choose a fun pattern or an unexpected hue for the skirt to help it blend in with your bathroom.
Do you have washi tape sitting around the house? If not, you might want to head to your local craft store to find some. You can add this tape to your pipes to give them a stand-out pattern like stripes or polka dots.
Beauty products
A bulky bottle of lotion doesn’t exactly look stylish sitting on your vanity. But who said that you have to keep the product in its original container? Create a uniform look in your bathroom by transferring less-than-attractive beauty products into glass bottle dispensers. You can do the same with other bathroom accessories, like cotton balls and Q-tips – put them in mason jars and store them on open shelving.
Wall imperfections
If there is a mark or a dent on wall that you’re having trouble removing, cover it up with a painting or a piece of art! This item can serve as a focal point for the bathroom and distract from any unsightly marks on the walls.
Toilet plunger
It’s always a smart idea to keep a plunger in your bathroom, but it’s not exactly the most attractive accessory. Try installing a small recessed cabinet in the wall where you can easily disguise this necessary eyesore. You can also get a stylish toilet plunger cover to keep it hidden in plain sight.
