If you share a bathroom, it can often be hard to find privacy. But the way your bathroom is laid out and designed can have a big impact on creating a shared space that’s big on serenity and seclusion. Keep these tips in mind when renovating your vintage bathroom design:
Frosted windows
Windows are a must-have in the bathroom. They allow natural light to stream in to help the room appear larger and highlight the beautiful interior design. Although windows offer a gorgeous view to the outside, they don’t lend to a feeling of privacy. A smart solution would be to opt for frosted windows instead, which still let light into your bathroom, but prevent anyone from seeing into the space from the outside. You can also choose to place your windows higher up on the wall to brighten up the bathroom and offer complete seclusion.
Curtains
Curtains not only help enhance your bathroom’s interior design, they can provide you with necessary isolation. Add color to the room with a bold pattern or opt for curtains that are neutral for a minimalist bathroom. Choose the fabric that works best for you – sheer fabric will allow light to shine in even when the curtains have been closed. Another option would be to choose thicker curtains that you can open and close at your convenience.
Skylight
What could be better than sitting in your clawfoot tub at night looking up at the stars through your skylight? This is a great option for brightening your bathroom while giving you the ultimate private experience. During the day, the sun’s rays will shine down and help warm you up. Plus, skylights can reduce the use of artificial lighting and help you save money on electric bills.
Accessible vanity
If space allows, you may want to consider putting the vanity in an area separate from the toilet and shower. Try putting the toilet off to the side of the room, where it will be out of a direct line of sight. You can also insert privacy panels to obstruct views without blocking out light and making the space feel small.
Glass blocks
If you’re looking for a way to keep your bathroom airy and spacious, try implementing a wall of glass blocks. This obscures the view from outside, but still lets in plenty of light and is great for both modern and vintage bathroom styles.
