How to Install a Four-Leg Console Sink Set

Assemble the Base

Unlike other two-leg sinks, these models feature a stable, self-supporting base that must be assembled first. Each model varies, but they’ll feature various horizontal support bars that must be screwed together or connected with bolts. Attach the horizontal bars to the four verticals until they stand on their own, then adjust the feet so they’re all even and level. This will make it easier to put the rest of the base frame together. Each sink will ship with a diagram showing the correct placement of the legs and bars.

Check the Level

Use a 4-foot spirit level to check the top of the console sink base when it’s fully assembled. Move it up against the wall where it will be installed, then check it again. Adjust the feet as needed until it’s as perfectly level across the top as possible. Then mark out a pencil line along the bottom of the topmost horizontal support beam. This will be where the support brackets should be attached.

Attach the Support Brackets

Slide the assembled base away by a foot or two. Use a stud finder along the pencil line marked in the previous step and mark at least one spot where there’s wood behind the wall. Placing one or more of the support brackets into the framing behind the wall is essential to hold the weight of the sink, even for a self-supporting model. Use a drill to create pilot holes, then attach the brackets by screwing them in by hand. Drywall anchor brackets should be used for any locations where there isn’t a stud behind the wall. The installation instructions will specify how many support brackets are needed.

Set the Vanity Top On

Move the base back against the wall and set the vanity top in place, ensuring it rests on the support brackets where it meets the wall. Then it’s simply a matter of installing the relevant sewage and plumbing connections, and the console sink is ready to use.
