How to Install a Console Vanity

Console vanities come in an array of styles and allow for a straightforward do-it-yourself installation. Once you have landed on the perfect vanity, installation can begin.

Easy Steps to Install

1. Find your water shut off. After turning off the water to your bathroom, turn on your faucet to drain out any water.

2. You will need to disconnect any water lines that go to your faucet. Be ready to catch water in a bucket as you detach these lines.

3. Once all the water lines are disconnected, break any sealant that is attaching your existing sink to the wall. If the vanity is screwed into the wall, loosen these screws while being mindful of the weight of the sink.

Remove and Measure

4. After loosening the sink, pull away the existing vanity. Take this time to patch up any damage that occurred to your wall when removing the old sink.

5. Next, measure the height and width of your new vanity. Determine where you will be installing the new vanity according to these dimensions. Using a carpenter’s pencil, mark where you will be attaching the vanity to the wall. Utilize a stud finder so you can attach the vanity to the stronger studs, rather than your drywall.

6. Then, you will get to work screwing the new vanity console base into the wall.

Install It

7. Install the faucet on your countertop, it’s a lot easier to do it now. Lastly, install the countertop portion of your vanity.

8. If any areas need sealing, use caulk to create a watertight seal.

9. Once everything is in place, reattach your water lines, P-Trap and drain and turn your water back on.

10. Remove the aerator and open both hot and cold valves, let the water run for at least 1 minute, this will clear any debris present in the line, also now is a good time to check for leaks.
