Pup lovers and owners would all agree that showering a dog is almost never an easy task but with a dog shower or a dog wash station, the task is made a little easier. Although we refer to these designated spots as dog showers, they aren’t just for dogs. They would work for any beloved pet that needs a shower often or occasionally without having to visit the groomers. |
Dog wash stations have been a rising trend for the past few years and its popularity seems to continuously grow in new home constructions. If you’re wondering what exactly dog showers are and why more and more people seem to include one in their bathroom remodeling plans, keep reading! You might find yourself needing one.
These animal grooming tubs or pet showers are exactly what they sound like – a designated, built-in mini shower or bath for your pet. Bending down for long periods of time may cause back soreness, so these pet showers are made with a raised lower platform that helps close the distance while cleaning. It is common for pet bathing stations to be installed in bathrooms, but we’ve also seen them in laundry rooms, mud rooms, and even outside in the backyard!
While they have very similar benefits, there are differences between a pet shower and a pet bath to consider.
You might have seen freestanding washing tubs around that aren’t built into your home. Being a non-permanent option means that it’s an option for those who live in apartments too!
Additionally, these are great because you don’t have to splurge if you’re not too sure on building a dog shower into your bathroom just yet. You can easily find elevated ones on the market that are better for your back. Plus, since they aren’t rooted to the ground, you can choose to change where you wash your dog. Perhaps it’s more convenient for you to have it outdoors one day instead of indoors, for example.
Similar to pet tubs, pet showers are also usually built on an elevated platform. Additionally, since an entrance to the shower is built, dog showers have the advantage of not needing to lift your dog or pet over the edge of a bathtub as much. This can also be a benefit for animals that are skittish and run the risk of accidentally jumping out of an elevated bathtub.
