With the heat dwindling down and the trees shedding their summer leaves, it is clear that autumn is fast approaching. Soon, the air will turn crisp and light, the trees will become warm colors of orange and red, and the nights will grow longer. In preparation for the change of the seasons, a clean and clutter-free home is the best way to welcome autumn. If you are like most people, you spend the majority of your time in the kitchen cooking, baking, and entertaining your friends and family. It is the hot spot of your home, and with all of that activity, it can get really cluttered sometimes. That makes it the perfect place to start decluttering your home before the autumn season comes.
The number one thing that clutters any room are items that do not belong. From coloring books in the kitchen to stacks of mail in the bathroom, there are probably plenty of things in your kitchen that shouldn’t be there at all. Clutter attracts clutter, and the kitchen countertops are infamous for being a magnet for it. So, the best way to start your grand decluttering plan is to put everything back to where it belongs. That means, the college sweater goes back into the bedroom and those matchbox car toys go into the toy bin, etc.
Believe it or not, many of us are hoarders of some sort. We like to hold onto items that we claim we will use one day, but really that “someday” doesn’t really come. Save yourself from all of that clutter and ask yourself, “do I use this?” If the answer is “no,” then let those items go to someone else who will use them and make more room for yourself.
Be truthful, you probably have extra appliances and cleaning supplies and make-up that you don’t really use. It’s okay, we’re all human here. We often tell ourselves we’ll need that extra bottle of window cleaner, that third mixing bowl, or all those plastic food containers. But do we really need all of those extras? How many of those do you really use on a daily basis? Declutter your space by donating those extras.
Once you declutter your kitchen space, you’ll soon see all of the extra room in your kitchen and all of the possibilities you can do with it. Move items that aren’t used daily into the cabinets and free up your countertop. By clearing and organizing your countertop though utilizing your cabinets, you will transform the way your kitchen looks and feels.
A great way to keep your kitchen clutter-free and open is investing in space-utilizing appliances like a single-hole faucet or wall-mount faucet. Faucets like these are meant to help you keep your space free and clear because they use only one hole or are kept off of the counter. By investing in faucets like these, you’re saving yourself one less problem in the future.
