Wall mount tub faucets may sound new or obscure, but they’re some of the most common tub faucets used today. Deciding if this kind of faucet is right for a particular bathroom requires a little knowledge of their design and limitations.
Here’s what any homeowner needs to know about using a wall mount tub faucet in their bathroom.
Wall-mounted tub faucets are popular for their secure mounting style. They attach to any conveniently located wall, giving the plumber a place to run the pipes while leaving only the attractive fixtures visible. Unlike freestanding tub fillers, these faucets don’t need any floor space to themselves for installation. They’re also less likely to be damaged by someone bumping into them while bathing than other types of faucets.
These types of tub faucets are commonly paired with alcove tubs since they’re already between two to three walls. It’s a natural fit to install the faucet on one of the surrounding walls to take advantage of the extra space. However, wall-mounted tub faucets can work well with other types of tubs too. A freestanding or clawfoot tub can also be paired with this kind of faucet if installed close enough to a wall or on tut itself. Look for a faucet with an extra-long reach due to an extended neck to make sure it’ll work well with a tub located a few inches from the wall.
Wall mount tub faucets only fill the tub from a single position, so many feature optional hand showerheads as well. These sprayers detach from it’s craddle to help rinse out the tub or give the user a convenient way to finish off their bath. Consider a wall-mounted faucet with at least one of these showerheads to make the most of the tub.
