Do you find yourself drinking coffee or tea every morning? If so, do you brew it yourself? Of course, you could run by your favorite coffee shop on the way to work, but why do that when you can brew your own coffee or tea at a much smaller cost right at home? Here’s how to pull off a coffee and tea station in your kitchen:
Make room
On a bar cart: Even if you have a tiny kitchen design to work with, you can still find space to create this must-have breakfast nook. Invest in a bar cart, which can be wheeled into a corner of your kitchen and tucked away when not in use. This two-layer tool will help you keep everything organized, from coffee mugs and tea bags to electric kettles, stirrers and packets of sugar. Search around for a bar cart that fits the style and size of your kitchen design.
On kitchen countertops: Set up your coffee station on your kitchen countertops if space allows. But if there are kitchen cabinets above your countertops, install hooks on the bottom of your cabinets to make it easy to put mugs on display. If you don’t have cabinets, install one or two floating shelves to show off your mug collection and store any other coffee necessities, like paper filters and creamer.
Buy new mugs
Your mugs are going to be on display at your coffee station, so you might want to invest in a new set of mugs that match your kitchen style. A minimalist kitchen would benefit from simple white mugs, while a modern kitchen would look great with cups and mugs featuring geometric patterns. Ornately detailed mugs can be the perfect addition to your current vintage kitchen decor.
Find storage
Storing your coffee, tea, sugar, etc., all in separate containers can look messy. Instead, find a set of uniform containers to organize all of your coffee nook must-haves. Mason jars are perfect for storing anything from coffee beans to cinnamon. You can use chalkboard paint to label the jars according to their contents.
Give yourself options
Instead of just having one brand of coffee or tea, put a few different brands on display. This will be handy for when you have guests over. They will be able to choose from a few different varieties so that they get exactly what they want. When autumn and winter roll around, you’ll also want to set out seasonal mix-ins, such as mini marshmallows, nutmeg and whipped cream.
