You may have a beautiful vintage style bathroom, but that can be hard to show off under a layer of dirt, grime and disorganization. In order to really let your bathroom’s design shine, it’s important to get the space as sparkling clean as possible. Plus, you don’t want any germs growing in your bathroom that could negatively affect the health of you and your houseguests. But cleaning doesn’t have to take all day. With these efficient tricks, you’ll have a spotless bathroom in no time:
Use hot water
Before you tackle your shower, run the hot water for a few minutes. This will make your cleaning job much easier by loosening up the dirt and grime. Then you can go at it with your scrub brush, and it will take you much less time and effort.
Try baby wipes
If you don’t have time to do a full sweep of your bathroom before guests arrive, simply use a baby wipe to clean off all surfaces, from the vanity to your sink. It’s amazing how much of a difference a clean counter makes.
Clean grout with cotton balls
When your grout is covered with dirt, it tends to become discolored, leaving your bathroom looking less than great. Instead of getting down on your hands and knees and scrubbing the grout for hours with bleach, let a cotton ball do the job, Simply soak a few cotton balls in bleach and leave them on top of tough-to-clean spots. After a few hours, come back into the bathroom, remove the cotton balls, and you’ll find that those dirty spots have been wiped clean.
Polish fixtures
It’s the details in your bathroom that really help to show off it’s design, and that includes fixtures like door knobs and faucets. Help your antique bath fixtures look good as new by wiping them down with equal parts baking soda and lemon juice. Dip a toothbrush in the solution and buff each faucet and doorknob down. Be sure to dry with a clean cloth. When you’re done drying them off, take a sheet of wax paper and rub each fixture. This acts as a water deterrent, deflecting any moisture that hits it. This will make cleaning much easier for you the next time around.
Remove bacteria from your showerhead
You may not notice it, but your showerhead is capable of picking up bacteria that can land on you while showering. Prevent this from happening by filling a plastic bag with white vinegar and submerging the showerhead in the liquid overnight. This will remove any germs that may be located on the fixture.
Toss shower curtains in the washer
If you have a plastic shower curtain, it can easily be put in the washer to remove any visible dirt, grime and bacteria. Toss in a few old bath towels with it, which will help rub off any unwanted substances.
Use newspaper instead of a towel
When wiping down your bathroom mirror, you may be tempted to dry it off with a towel. However, this will only leave streaks on the glass, leaving it looking less than polished. Instead, use a newspaper that you have lying around your home for a smudge-free mirror.
