One component of great interior design is cohesion. All the different items in a room need to work together to be pleasing to the eye. When revamping your bathroom, don’t just think of it as a standalone room. Match its style with the bedroom so you have a seamless design that is warming and welcoming. Here are some tips for creating cohesive bathroom and bedroom decor.
Fixtures
When choosing fixtures, opt for finishes that work well for both your bedroom and bathroom. For example, if you select a clawfoot tub with polished chrome feet, your bed frame can have the same colors. Choose a white frame with silver accents and both pieces (which serve as the focal point in each room) will work in harmony.
Linens
It’s simple to match your linens in these two rooms. One option is to use the same fabrics and patterns in both spaces. Just purchase extra drapes in your fabric of choice and install them in the bathroom as well as your bedroom. Or you can have the linens match by using complementary hues. If you have blue tones in your bed sheets, use those colors in your towels and your shower curtain.
Wall treatment
Repeat the same wall treatment in the bathroom that you’ve chosen for the bedroom. If you opt for a floral wallpaper in your sleeping quarters you can feature that same print all over the walls or just on one. Additionally, opt for complementary wall colors. If you have a warm red tone in the bedroom, select an orange or brown color for the bathroom.
Accessories
When shopping for accessories for the bathroom, pick up the same types of items that you’ve worked into your bedroom design. For example, figurines can work in both space. Additionally, you’ll want to include similar or complementary artwork, and framed pictures and mirrors.
