With people spending much of their time indoors in the past year, we’re seeing interior design trends that support that kind of lifestyle. Very generally, all the trends attempt to bring peace of mind; whether that be through utilizing “soothing colors” or recreating atmospheres that bring relaxation.
Reading through the list of trends below, you’ll notice that although these are “2021 bathroom trends,” they are trends that could be applied across all interior spaces.
Without further ado, let’s get on to the list!
Coming a long way from plain and sterile white walls approach, this year, we’re expecting to see traditionally outdoor elements or outdoor-inspired themes brought indoors. This may include more plants and greenery, “rustic” decor, or furniture pieces that were meant for the outdoors.
One easy tip to stay clear of a clinical feel is to mix the old with the new like mixing vintage and modern pieces. By doing so, you can create a more lived-in or homey space. Take this tip even further by swapping out polished metal finishes for color finishes that are the opposite like brushed brass or Naples bronze to name a few.
Although the trends of the upcoming year suggest a departure from “commercial,” it is equally important to achieve a sense of relaxation, which could mean bringing the spa home. This could be accomplished with a rainshower – which also aligns with an outdoors-inspired approach – or a luxurious freestanding tub.
As aforementioned, the upcoming trend encourages staying away from plain white. Instead, opt for colors that are more inspired by Mother Nature like cream, shades of green, terracotta, or other warm-toned colors.
Have you seen those Art Deco furniture pieces floating around social media lately? Well, it just so happens that rubbed and fluted textures are in vogue and Art Deco designs fit perfectly into that trend! Ribbed and fluted textures are great for jazzing up and contrasting any space without worrying about going too over-the-top. At the end of the day, these designs are interesting and classic, but still rather minimalistic!
A great way to cheat the “outdoors” look is to employ a botanical patterned or themed wallpaper! With wallpaper, there’s no need to worry about watering plants or looking for long lasting fake plants that look real. Plus, there’s so many fun inexpensive wallpaper options out in the market to explore!
Thinking about doing something different than the above 2021 bathroom trends? We’ve been seeing a slight rise in moodier interiors and we’re here for it!
