Bridge faucets are one of the most recognizable kitchen faucet design styles. They are characterized by their signature form-factor that uses a “bridge” to direct the independent hot and cold valves to the faucet spout. Kingston has always had a strong line of popular bridge faucets such as our popular heritage collection. |
Recently, we have expanded this line with the introduction of four new contemporary bridge faucets. These industrial inspired faucets apply architectural themes into their handle and body designs. Each new faucet is currently available in 5 color-finishes! Our Industrial theme balances the roughness of exposed plumbing with the refinement of contemporary aesthetics.
The following are 4 design-considerations we recommend to further accentuate contemporary bridge faucets in the kitchen.
Faucets look their best when paired with the right sink. One of the trendiest kitchen styles today is the revival of the bridge faucet & farmhouse sink combination. Farmhouse sinks are known for their exposed front wall, that come in both patterned or plain designs. Kingston’s contemporary solid surface kitchen sinks are a great way to blend a traditional style with a more modern look. Bridge faucets are wider than most single-hole faucets; a large sink (at least 30″ in wide) pairs best with a bridge faucet.
A kitchen laid out with plenty of open space compliments the large size of a bridge faucet. Open space does not necessarily mean a large kitchen. Space can be created through a combination of bright colors, good organization of appliances, access to sunlight, or the removal of unneeded partitions. Open space and industrial bridge faucets are an option when looking for a contemporary look while “bridging:” (pun-intended) with more traditional kitchen styles.
We recommend adding elements of exposed plumbing to further unify an industrial faucet with the kitchen. Kingston’s industrial theme combines the raw and functional features of exposed plumbing with contemporary aesthetics. Ideas we have seen include both small decorative valves, accents of copper, and bigger statements such as an exposed ceiling.
Color finish is as important as the form of the faucet. Designers consider both the color-finish of the faucet itself and how that color-finish communicates with the other colors and materials in the room. We currently offer colors from dark matte black to bright polished brass. A kitchen looks very unified when colors coordinate around the room. Some of our favorite kitchen designs have been when other hardware and light fixtures pair with the plumbing fixtures or when the cabinets take a strong coordinating color, such as rich royal blue cabinets and polished brass fixtures.
At the end of the day, a kitchen is meant to fit the users’ preferences. These industrial faucets are designed to fit a large variety of styles! They pair with the more minimalist-contemporary look as well as more traditional themes. It depends where you want to take your space!
