You use your shower a lot during the week, so it’s natural for it to get a bit dirty after a while. However, nobody likes cleaning the shower and it’s a chore that’s easy to put off. With these simple cleaning hacks, your shower space will always be sparkling:
Dish scrubber
You might have a dish scrubber sitting on your kitchen sink to help you wash dishes, but do you have one in your shower? If not, you might want to consider purchasing one. It can hang right on your shower head. You can use the scrubber to keep the walls and floor of your shower free of mildew and bacteria. Here’s what to fill up your dish scrubber with:
1/4 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon dish soap
Essential oil (optional)
Mix the dish soap and vinegar together. You can choose to add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to give your shower a fresh scent. Pour the mixture into your scrubber, and you’re ready to clean.
Wire hanger
Nobody likes to stand in a puddle while they’re showering. If you are, your drain is likely clogged. To fix this common issue, simply untwist a wire hanger and slide one end of it inside of your drain. This will remove any large clumps of hair that may be blocking your the drain. Next, you’ll need to mix together 1/4 cup ammonia in a quart of boiling water. Pour this mixture down the drain to clean the pipes of anything else that may be clinging to them.
Vinegar
Brass shower heads are a beautiful addition to any shower, but you don’t want the shiny finish to look dull. You can make your shower head look like new by using some distilled white vinegar.
Fill a plastic bag with distilled white vinegar, and secure the bag around the shower head with a rubber band. Leave the solution there for about an hour to allow your shower head to soak. Remove the bag, then rinse the shower head and wipe clean with a wet cloth.
Squeegee
Keep a squeegee in the corner of your shower, and use it to wipe down the walls before you step out of the shower. It will only take a few extra seconds, but doing so will help you out in the long run. If you do this each time you shower, you’ll be able to greatly cut back on mildew and soap scum that can often form, which means less cleaning in the future!
