Choosing the right bathtub is a mix of personal taste, comfort, function, and what can fit in your bathroom. Therefore, understanding the dimensions and types of bathtubs available will help finalize your bathtub of choice.

Kingston’s extensive range of bathtubs is designed with precision and care to meet the highest standards of durability and performance. Whether you are remodeling a quaint bathroom in a classic home or crafting a modern, spacious area, Kingston has an array of bathtubs to choose from. This guide aims to navigate through the various options, helping you select a bathtub that is not just a fit, but a feature that morphs bathtime into a luxurious experience.

Small, Standard, & Large Bathtubs

Small: Small bathtubs usually range from 45 inches to 60 inches in length and are ideal for compact spaces or specific needs such as children's bathrooms or auxiliary baths.

Standard: Standard bathtubs, the most common size, typically measure between 60 and 72 inches in length. These provide ample space for adults to bathe comfortably and are often designed to fit neatly into the average household bathroom.

Large: For those seeking a more luxurious bathing experience, large bathtubs can exceed 72 inches in length, providing expansive comfort suitable for larger or master bathrooms.

Standard Dimensions & Types of Bathtubs

Clawfoot Bathtubs

Clawfoot bathtubs are characterized by their distinct standalone design and ornate feet that elevate the tub off the floor. These bathtubs are often made from cast iron coated with porcelain or from fiberglass covered with acrylic. These tubs carry a vintage feel with deep soaking capabilities.

Bathtub Material Options

Acrylic

Acrylic bathtubs are made of a colored layer of acrylic sheet material over a fiberglass shell, favored for their lightweight properties and ease of maintenance. While acrylic is durable, it can be susceptible to scratches and may require more careful cleaning to maintain its glossy finish.

Fiberglass

Fiberglass, similar to acrylic, is lightweight and cost-effective, making it a popular choice for budget-conscious consumers. It is coated with a gel that can be repaired if scratched, although it is less durable than some other materials and may not have the same longevity as heavier materials like cast iron.

Cast Iron

Cast iron tubs are cast iron at the core, and are coated with enamel, which provides a hard, glossy surface that is easy to clean and resistant to chipping.  Cast Iron retains heat well, improving the comfort of your bath. Cast iron is much heavier than other materials, which may require reinforcing the bathroom floor to accommodate the tub’s weight, particularly in older homes or upper-story bathrooms.

Stone Resin

Stone resin bathtubs are crafted from a blend of natural stone and resin, giving them a solid, heat-retentive quality similar to natural stone. Kingston supplies solid surface white stone tubs. These tubs are heavy, lending a substantial, luxurious feel to the bathroom but also requiring sturdy support.
