KSRP1271D Spray Diverter for Kitchen Faucet with Sprayer, Raw

I have delayed replying in order to see what happens over time. As I was installing the diverter when it first arrived, I noticed that the shape of the black gasket at the sealing end of the diverter did not match the shape of the gasket on the old diverter that I was replacing. This gave me pause, but I had no alternative, so I proceeded with the replacement. When I first used the sprayer after the replacement, the hand lever on the sprayer activated the spray very effectively. However, when I released the hand lever, the spray did not stop. Twice I soaked myself because I had not learned that I could not rely on the sprayer to stop spraying when I released the handle lever. I did learn that if I “flipped” the lever backwards, away from the spray head, the spray would stop. After a couple weeks of doing this each time I wanted to stop the spray, I have discovered that I now do not have to “flip” the handle. Just releasing it now stops the spray as one would have expected in the first place. However, it has taken a couple weeks of intermittent sprayer use (and as I wrote, a couple unexpected dousing) to arrive at this point. It would have been nicer if the sprayer had worked as expected as soon as the diverter replacement had been effected. I should add that the customer service representative who helped me identify the correct part was very pleasant and efficient.

The expensive sink we bought from you had the diverter break after about a year. Paid $25 for a new one and was charged $15!! for shipping. A two ounce piece of plastic. Luckily the shipping took two weeks to get here. Then, you can only install the new piece with a 12mm allen wrench. Home Depot, Lowe's, Harbor Freight don't have them. Had to order that and wait another week. All in all, $65 and a month's time to fix a five cent part that didn't even last a year.

This spray hose is an improvement from the original spray hose. However, the spray diverter valve‘s outer casing is constructed of polyvinyl chloride with an inner alloy component. This spray diverter valve has already failed!! The design is good, however; the valve‘s construction is of low quality materials, sorry. I have taught engineering at R1 University for 32-years and have practiced engineering for 40-years. The outer casing should be constructed of a brass alloy for durability.

The diverter worked for one week and then stopped. Not sure why it only lasted a few days
